The British Embassy Opens its Doors

Having a very special customer in the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. I feel compelled to brag just a bit about the open house day they had this past Saturday, May 8th.  They are constantly recognized for their creativity in promotions, and this year was no exception.  My customer called me at the beginning of the year knowing precisely what she wanted, consequently making for some stellar ideas.

"EU Day" (European Union) is a big open house event that the embassy hosts every year.  Last year they had about 6,000 members of the public, and this year that number jumped dramatically to over 7,500.  I'm not saying they are coming back just for the cool imprinted items, but they might be...

Highlights include, but are not limited to traditional food and drink from Union Jacks Pub, music, and whisky tastings from MaCallan, tours of the Residence's symmetrical gardens, a military tank display and presentations from members of the British armed forces

Here are a few members of staff enjoying the afternoon, one of which, British Ambassador to the US Sir Nigel Sheinwald, is sporting this years embassy t-shirt.

Here are a few members of staff enjoying the afternoon, one of which, British Ambassador to the US Sir Nigel Sheinwald, is sporting this years embassy t-shirt. This t-shirt design was hand picked by the marketing team from a variety of choices, all submitted as a contest on their website.  The back of the shirt boasts the embassy website.

And here is a member of the BE staff giving out the coveted custom tote bags.  These were designed completely from scratch by one of our overseas suppliers to suit their needs exactly.  It is a fully laminated matte finish market tote with the Union Jack flag making up both sides.  The text "British Embassy" can be found boldly printed on one gusset and the UK Trade and Investment co-sponsor logo on the other ,as well as the UK in USA website.

My customer reported back to me that the event was, once again, a huge hit saying, "The event went really great...we had over 7,500 people come through the doors...and the bags were a hit!  And now apparently people are putting notices on Craigs list asking if anyone would give theirs up and that they would pay about $10 for each bag!  So a big success, even the staff want to know if they can buy one, but we are all out!"

I think that pretty much says it all.  Oh, and this link can say just a tiny bit more...

Ok, if you're still begging for just one more link, here it is!

We can't help but brag on ourselves when we find that our ideas actually bring out the best promotion possible for our customers. Or when we hear the product is being sold on Craig's List.
